Inherent battle. Part 1.

The first battle in life that needs to be won is the battle with one's own conscience. Whenever we do a benevolent act, we are affirmed of the right doing by our inner self that is the conscience. The time we commit a wrongdoing we are simply rebuked by our conscience. The time when we perform our duties earnestly and sincerely, we are appreciated by none other than our inner self.

There are institutions set up by the state to effectively carry on the business of the civilized society and that no downgraded actions are committed in the society. These institutions of the state are Police, Courts and various other such institutions. But, the biggest institution is within us and that is our inner self, the soul or the conscience.

Mario was a famous Neurologist in new York, with an impressive track record. He was often visited from patients all across the 50 states. Such was his name and fame, he specialized in branch of neurology that there were only a countable number of doctors.

During the past few years, he had been quite busy as the number of patients had been increasing every now and then. In nearly ten years of practice, he had amassed a lot of wealth and had been the director of a very famous multi specialty clinic. he had four villas across the city. He owned a number of expensive cars including all big and branded names that one could think of. Such was his skill and his dexterity that he was even called by the Governor of the state whenever the need arose.

That evening Mario was busy with his patients as usual. After an hour or so, he met with an old lady patient who had some kind of neurological disorder. During the initial know-how, he realized that she was a poor lady struggling hard for the livelihood of her household. Her husband was bedridden and she was the one who was the sole bread earner for her family. During inspection he was stunned to see clots in her brain due to severe psychological pressure that she was handling. He informed her that it would need to be operated or else could even result costing her life. The cost that would incur on the surgery would around a million dollars or so. She looked at Mario with grief struck gaze, and appealed that she was impoverished and she couldn't bear the cost. Mario suffered from a emotional crisis then and there. However, he managed to balance himself anyhow and asked her to meet him after a day or two. She nodded her head obediently, and left to meet again.
