..... Contd. from part 1........
The psychiatrist's mind started to think in a single direction. As recently he read a report on neurology, which indicated about the same problem. But he wanted to go through a thorough check up in order to affix the kind of medical attention that Mahto needed. In order to assess properly he needed to diagnose comprehensievely.
For that very reason he called Mahto to his clinic the very next day, to which Mahto pleasantly agreed. Mahto visited the psychiatrist the next day well in time. He was greeted by the psychiatrist whose name was Brian. Both of them went inside the clinic and very soon Brian asked Mahto to enter into the check up room. he went him and was quite impressed with the internal set up, as it had two big lights and a screen, a projector and various other apparatus. Brian asked him to sit on the patient's chair and thereafter he switched one of the big lights on. There was a machine which did the CT scan, and Mahto sat just beneath it as was told to do so.
Brian started watching the inside of the brain on the screen and after quite a while he frowned with amazement. His anticipation was right, he then asked Mahto to get up and pushed the button for a printed report. They both walked out of the check up room and sat in the doctor's chamber. Then Brian explained that Mahto had some parasites in the brain. The ailment was called 'neurocysticercosis'.
Brian explained Mahto that this happens when someone swallows tapeworm eggs. The larvae get into tissues such as muscle and brain, and form cysts there, thus causing severe headache and mental problems. This was the problem that Mahto was suffering from and that was the sole cause of his misbehavior. He also explained Mahto that the only remedy was surgery. Primarily Mahto was reluctant but after a long session of counselling, he agreed.
